Most people who do not disclose their experiences do not want to be ridiculed. Elderly people do not like sharing such experiences with people, including professionals, friends, and family. Post-bereavement hallucinations are also under-reported. There is also the fear of how the public will actually treat them if they do share their experiences, which falls under the public stigma.
